NORDIC WALKING

Nordic Walking - fit with two sticks!

Nordic Walking is considered to be one of the healthiest sports to strengthen the cardiovascular system and improve fitness. Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the surrounding area are ideally suited for Nordic Walking with numerous comfortable walking paths. In the midst of beautiful nature, this sport becomes a unique experience.

CLIMBING

Garmisch-Partenkirchen offers several varied climbing routes, including a route around the Alpspitze and in the Wetterstein Mountains. Climbers are rewarded with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountain ranges. In the Oberreintal, a local climbing mecca, experienced climbers will find alpine, well-secured routes. The “Alpspitz-Ferrata” (2,628 meters) offers a fabulous view of the Loisach valley on one side and down into the Höllental valley on the other. A tempting challenge for experienced alpinists is the Jubiläumsgrat, one of the most spectacular ridge traverses in the Alps.

Families may enjoy the local Bouldering Hall or the Kletterwald ropes course.

Biking and Mountain Biking

In Garmisch-Partenkirchen you will definitely find more than enough cycling opportunities. The well-signed cycling network of more than 450 kilometers offers the right thing for cyclists of all abilities. Whether a relaxed excursion for families with children, a demanding mountain tour or a rapid downhill. Discover nature on two wheels and enjoy varied bike excursions in Garmisch.

The area around Garmisch-Partenkirchen offers a multitude of idyllic lakes and natural pools for hot summer days. Each one has its own unique flair and beauty. Whether with the family or alone - you are sure to find a new favorite place here! Our favorite lakes are the Eibsee, Pflegeersee, Rießersee or Geroldsee. The most beautifully located natural outdoor pool is the outdoor pool in Oberau.

The Alpspitz wave pool ensures action in the cool water when the weather doesn't cooperate.

Those who prefer to look at the idyllic landscape around Germany's highest mountain from above will find the best opportunity to do so. The area around Garmisch-Partenkirchen is well known for paragliding! You will be amazed by the sights of countless mountain peaks, valleys, villages and lakes. Even golf fans don't have to forego their favorite hobby when on holiday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. There are 23 golf courses, within an hour’s drive from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Some are in the immediate vicinity, other’s in neighboring Austria. The Land- und Golfclub Werdenfels (9-hole course) and the Golfclub Garmisch-Partenkirchen (18-hole course), for example, are located in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and offer a wonderful natural backdrop.

Much in the Bavarian Alps is just waiting to be discovered. Every year in July and August, you can also experience Garmisch-Partenkirchen’s own version of Octoberfest called “Fest Woche”.
